Is it the end of February already?  I feel like summer will be here before we know it!  This week we have some sweets and treats, history, the Long Beach night sky, and a little bit of party time!  It was hard narrowing down our top 5, but I think we picked the best! STORE EVENT: POP-UP WITH XOCHICO AT THE MOLAA

 When: Thursday February 27th from 5 pm – 9 pm

Where: Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), 628 Alamitos Ave, Long Beach

Sweets, treats, and free museum admission?!  Enjoy a truly sweet end to the month in which we celebrate love and friendship. Meet and greet with Alonso Flores, owner and creator of Xochico – the original brand that popularized Mexican sweet bread and concha merchandise. ASTRONOMY NIGHT AT HILLTOP PARK

 When: Thursday February 27th from 6:30 pm – 8 pm

Where: Hilltop Park, 2351 Dawson Ave, Signal Hill

Long Beach at night!  Astronomers will visit Hilltop Park to teach patrons of all ages about the stars and moon. Astronomy Night will feature professional equipment provided by volunteers to give guests an up-close experience with the night sky. 4TH FRIDAYS ON 4TH STREET

When: Friday February 28th from 6 pm – 9 pm

Where: 4th Street between Temple and Cherry, Long Beach

How is it already the end of February?!  At least this means it’s time for another 4th Fridays on 4th Street!  This month, we’re dancing our way into the weekend!  Head over this Friday to bust a move!  Fourth Fridays features extended store hours, food and drink specials, FREE trolley rides, in-store pop-ups and specials, live music, art shows, bike valet, and more!  This is a great event for the entire family!  Visit the event page for additional details, and don’t forget to follow their social channels to get a heads up on all the best 4th Street events!

FREE FAMILY THEATER: “THE SPIRIT OF BLACK FOLKLORE”

International City Theatre is thrilled to be back with another Free Saturday Family Theatre series! Head over on Leap Day, February 29, 2020, for “The Spirit of Black Folklore!” in honor of Black History Month! The Spirit of Black Folklore explores the pride of heritage and a willingness to laugh despite the odds using folktales and literature from African and African American cultures.  The show starts at 11 AM on February 29th, seating is first come first serve.  Admission to this event is FREE for all but reservations are required! SHAKE N CAKE RUN

When: Sunday March 1st from 9 am – 12 pm

Where: Runners High, 5338 E 2nd Street, Long Beach

Free run, free pancakes?!  Whether you are running the LA marathon or are just looking for a quick run, meet up at Runner’s High for a 3 mile run and a free post-run pancake bar!  This is an all-ages event.  Please be sure to RSVP using the link below
