This session is Day 3 in a three-part series called Go Make Something, sponsored by the Arts Council for Long Beach.
OVERVIEW
Jose Angel Castro will briefly introduce the concept and importance of mindfulness practice both as selfcare and as a means to facilitate creativity. This session will feature a series of progressive sensory mindfulness exercises in 4 rounds. Mindfulness practice is simple, really. It is the deliberate act of paying deep attention to the moment you’re in right now for the purpose of regulating and resetting our mental, emotional, physical state. There’s no magic to it, just practice.
GOALS
Present exercises that introduce attendees to concepts and tools of the practice of mindfulness.
Provide attendees with a mindfulness comprehensive mindfulness experience.
Explore a potentially new self-care option.
This unique program will be both cathartic and productive because of its multifaceted approach. It will include local creatives’ interviews on Instagram Live, virtual community sessions, and community testimonials on creative explorations during and beyond the stay-at-home orders with the end goal of encouraging participants to Go Make Something.
Participants will have access to tools that will aid them in their overall creative process by addressing some crucial aspects of mindset, emotional health, and mental balance. RSVP to attend as a limited 30 spaces are available for the this in-person event at the East Village Arts Park located at 150 Elm Ave., Long Beach, CA 90802. Masks are required to attend.
