How to Celebrate Mother’s Day at Home in Long Beach

Avatar

Along with colorful flower blooms and gentle spring days, May brings with it one important celebration: Mother’s Day. Each year, Mothers’ Day serves as a sweet reminder of how special the women in our lives are.

Most Mother’s Days are filled with spa trips, brunch outings, or even parties. This year, Mother’s Day is bound to look quite a bit different. Whether you are able to spend Mother’s Day with your own mom (or children) or are celebrating at a distance, there are still some special ways to honor the important women in your life.

Spend the day in the garden.

What is better than enjoying mom’s company on a lovely May Sunday in the garden? Plan to help her out with some garden upkeep or simply resolve to spend the day sipping lemonade and chatting. Plan a lunch picnic and enjoy the simple life with mom.

Order a fancy brunch in.

Instead of going out this year, bring a spring brunch right to mom. Many Long Beach favorites are still offering delivery and take out. Consider Primal Alchemy or The Breakfast Bar. If you are away from your mother during social distancing, send a special breakfast right to her door. Better yet – cook one yourself and drop it off at her doorstep with a bouquet of flowers or a new spring plant.

Explore together – virtually.

Many of us love to travel and explore with our mothers. This year, with sight-seeing trips out of the question, go traveling the virtual way. Visit some amazing museums right from the comfort of your couch. For an extravagantly elegant Mother’s Day, why not check out Asheville’s Biltmore Estateand Gardens, the National Women’s History Museum, or The Louvre?

Enjoy an at-home wine tasting.

If California’s breathtaking vineyards are your idea of a Mother’s Day well-spent, bring the wines to you. Stock up on a few local favorites (like District Wine) and enjoy a wine tasting at home with mom. If you don’t live near your mom or are social distancing, simply order a bottle to her house and catch up with a happy hour over Zoom!
