An evening of watercolor painting, creativity, and queer community

QUEERS, you are invited to an evening of watercolor painting, creativity, and queer community.

Facilitated by Rebekah Rose and Nico Ruta, and hosted by Wood Coffee co.

Wood Coffee co. is a queer owned plant based shop in the rose park neighborhood of Long Beach, CA. They will be providing drinks so please bring your money to buy drinks and support this beautiful queer owned space!

No painting experience needed and beginners are encouraged to come. This gathering is about having fun, practicing, and playing in community.

All art and painting materials will be provided. If you have drawing and watercolor supplies you prefer to use, then you are welcome to bring your own.

FLOW FOR EVENING:

  • get settled into space
  • warm up drawing games
  • watercolor painting lesson led by Rebekah
  • space to practice watercolor painting
  • show and tell

PARKING: The parking available is street parking. We encourage you to arrive early to allow time to find street parking and to purchase your drinks.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Waterbottle
  • Snacks if you need them
  • Money to purchase drinks from Wood
  • We will provide all art and watercolor painting supplies. You are welcome to bring your own if you have supplies you prefer to use.

ABOUT YOUR FACILITATORS:

Rebekah Rose (they/she) is a trauma-informed yoga teacher, illustrator and muralist living in Long Beach, CA. They work to destigmatize issues related to mental health, consent, social justice, queerness with a sense of humor and play. Their biggest priority as a teacher is to create a space in which people feel safe enough to be their honest selves in any given moment.

Nico Ruta (they/them) is an artist living in Long Beach, CA. Their current art practice includes photography, sensuality, movement, and intentional experience creation. They are committed to the practice of cultivating home within, and doing it within the ecosystem of community. Nico co-creates intentional queer spaces for joy, creativity, ease, and softness.
