Nothing sends off summer in Long Beach quite like Music Tastes Good, a two-day festival whose goal is to bring the worlds of food, music, and art together in one place. This year’s lineup was a good one, with headliners like Santigold, Janelle Monáe, and James Blake on the musical front, and guest chefs from cities all over the west coast from Long Beach to Vancouver. From live food demos to pop-up brass band performances in the middle of the venue (no stage needed), Music Tastes Good is a playground for people of all ages who like to celebrate the arts, and at the crossroads of it all, these people can DRESS! Move over Coachella, because while Long Beach festivals are decidedly more casual than the infamous Palm Springs counterpart, you can still find standout fashion inspiration everywhere you turn. So, even though summer has come to an end, here are some show-stopping outfits we spotted at Music Tastes Good that brought some serious heat!
Clash of The Plaid
Loose, comfortable shapes, a touch of skin, and a bold retro pair of sunglasses made this plaid look fresh and unexpected.

Denim on Denim
We’re not sure how he survived in the September California heat, but maybe the holes in his jacket provide much-needed ventilation.

Indie Adventurer
The relaxed menswear staples paired with casual jeans and sneakers made for a winning combo in our book.

Retro Punk
One of the best moments women’s fashion is currently having is the movement back to straight-leg jeans and sneakers. This look is a nod to all of that, with a hint of too-cool-for-school punk that we absolutely loved.

Co-Ords For Men
Who said co-ords were only for women? This look caught our eye, but what really got us was when he told us that his entire ensemble was curated right here in the LBC (Port, we’re looking at you).

Old School Boho
Festival fashion done right – comfortable shoes, comfortable jeans, an awesome beret, and a fun crop top. What more could you want?

Patterns are for Lovers
Flowers for her, flower patterns for him. It doesn’t get more perfect than this.

Fall Florals
The brown hues and the feminine pattern had us swooning.

Cargo Chic
We never thought we’d see the day that cargo pants returned, but they have, and in the biggest of ways. She balanced it right by pairing baggy cargo joggers with a form-fitting jumpsuit, playing testament to the fact that proportions can make just about anything work.

All White After Labor Day
How can you not wear all white after labor day when your jumpsuit looks like this? Classy, chic, and understated. Our only worry was whether or not she was able to keep this look clean after a full day romping the food festival grounds!

Rainbow Disco
Everything about this is fun and lighthearted. The disco earrings, the metallic shoes, the fedora, and the rainbow puff-sleeve crop all seem like statements of their own, but somehow, the combination works effortlessly.
